The trick to a successful budget is its ability to handle emergencies. You should not go to your emergency fund if you overspend in a category. Instead you should look to your budget to find the extra money. Each month is a little bit different，and it is important to realize that your budget can change to meet your needs. It is important to keep savings and debt payments at the top of your budget. Try to avoid changing these amounts. After you realize that you have overspent in a category or need extra money，there are three things you should do.
　　成功的預(yù)算可以幫你處理緊急事務(wù)。一個(gè)預(yù)算項(xiàng)目的金額花完，你不能動用緊急基金去彌補(bǔ)，而應(yīng)該向預(yù)算本身找余錢。每個(gè)月情況可能有所不同，所以要確保自己的預(yù)算可以為你的需求做出相應(yīng)改變。存款和還債應(yīng)放于預(yù)算首要地位，這部分款項(xiàng)能不動就不動。當(dāng)意識到一項(xiàng)預(yù)算已經(jīng)花完或需要額外支出時(shí)，你需要學(xué)做下面的三項(xiàng)事情：
　　First，you need to determine how much money you will need to find to cover the expenses in that category for the rest of the month.
　　If you have overspent on gas money， ask yourself how much money you will need to go to work for the rest of the month. You should try to cancel unnecessary trips to conserve money and gas. If you have overspent on groceries then cut down your grocery list to the bare essentials. You may not be able to eat steak every night for the rest of the month.
　　首先，你需要確定本月接下來的時(shí)間里你需要多少錢來彌補(bǔ)這項(xiàng)預(yù)算的空缺。
　　如果汽油費(fèi)花光了，你就要知道接下來的時(shí)間里上班要花多少路費(fèi)。不必要的出行應(yīng)該取消掉，以節(jié)省出行開支。如果買菜的錢花完，接下來你就不能每天晚上吃牛排了，而應(yīng)將三餐花銷降低到基本水平。
　　Second you should look at the categories in your budget that you can cut back on.
　　You need to pay your rent and utilities，so you should live these alone. You may want to look at your fun money，clothing，eating out，groceries，and gas categories. These are the ones that you can decide how much you spend each month. Decide how much you can cut back on in each category this month.
　　第二你需要找出可以騰出金額的預(yù)算項(xiàng)目。
　　房租和一些費(fèi)用是必需的，這部分不能動。娛樂支出、服裝支出、外出就餐、買菜和汽油費(fèi)這些項(xiàng)目是可以進(jìn)行改變的，可以通過縮減這些項(xiàng)目的預(yù)算來騰出一些余錢。
　　Third you will need to subtract that amount from each category.
　　Then you will add that amount to the category that you need extra money in. You can keep transferring until you cover your expenses in your category. If you are using the envelope system，you will simply move the money from envelope to envelope.
　　接下來需要把做出變動的類別減少相應(yīng)的數(shù)額，將需要額外數(shù)額的項(xiàng)目加上這筆數(shù)目，直到滿足需求為止。
