As is illustrated in the chart, the number of Chinese outbound tourists is roughly 100 million in 2014, approximately 120 million in 2018 and over 150 million in 2018. Apparently, the number of Chinese outbound tourists has been on a dramatic rise over the past five years.
What accounts for the increase? From my perspective, at least three factors contribute to the change. To begin with, the change is closely related to the rising income of the Chinese people. With the rapid improvement of living standards, more and more Chinese can afford trips to foreign countries, which is an excellent way to broaden their horizons. More importantly, the change has a lot to do with the turning of the Chinese people’ attitude towards and outlook on consumption. Finally, the change is enhanced and promoted by the government’s bettering tourism policies as well as the more convenient channels in the international aviation.
With the development of society, the rising trend is bound to continue for a couple of years in the future. As far as I am concerned, it’s a positive trend and should be encouraged since it is beneficial not merely to citizens but to the whole society.
